Train/Flight to Kaliningrad

Getting to Kaliningrad by plane or train
There are no useful direct passenger flights or trains from the EU into Kaliningrad right now. For most travellers the practical route is to fly to Gdańsk or Vilnius and continue overland by bus or car. That combination is what actually works day to day, and it is what this page points you toward.
Can I fly direct?
No. Fly to Gdańsk (GDN) or Vilnius (VNO). From there the standard next step is the international bus, or you drive yourself.
Gdańsk is usually the simpler hub: frequent flights, short transfer to the bus station next to Gdańsk Główny, and a well-used coach route to Kaliningrad.
Vilnius works if you are already in the Baltics, but the land leg is less straightforward (bus options are limited; car rules at Kybartai apply if you drive).
Details for the overland leg are on our bus and car pages.
Is there a train?
No. There is no tourist-friendly passenger train from Poland or Lithuania into Kaliningrad. Transit trains exist for other routes, but you cannot use them as a normal traveller to enter the exclave.
Transit trains between Russia and Kaliningrad cross Lithuania, but Lithuania does not let ordinary travellers board or alight for entry into the exclave. There is no bookable passenger service from Poland either.
